Barstool Sports Creates A ‘Did Smitty Show Up To Work Today?’ Tracker

Adam Smith AKA Smitty is the most worthless employee that Barstool Sports has. Those are Dave Portnoy’s words, not mine. Smitty is more known for his ability to be terrible rather than the great content he actually produces. Barstool refuses to get rid of him. Instead, they have decided to make a parody out of it.

I’m not positive who’s idea this was but it’s brilliant. There is now a Twitter account that you can follow that is called “Did Smitty show up to work today?”. It either tweets yes or no to indicate if he showed up for work. The account doesn’t follow anyone. It’s just there to let you know if Smitty showed up.

You can follow the account here. If you do follow it, you will notice a trend. You have a better chance of seeing a homeless person walking on water than Smitty showing up to work. It’s borderline crazy how often this guy just doesn’t show up.

Of course, some of this is on Portnoy. His employees clearly don’t respect him. You’re either coaching it or allowing it to happen. Smitty not showing up to work is a mixture of both. It’s kind of crazy when you think about the fact that Barstool is firing talented bloggers so that they can keep a guy that doesn’t work.

How long will this go on? Is Smitty safe for life at Barstool even if he never shows up? It must be nice to get a check to do absolutely nothing. You can tell by the comments that people are fired up about that fact.
