Anthony Davis Won’t Commit To Staying With The Lakers Past This Year

Anthony Davis had his heart set on the Los Angeles Lakers this summer and got his wish. Most people figured he had the Lakers in his long term sights. However, something very strange happened today. Davis recently interviewed with Rachel Nichols of ESPN. Davis may have wanted LA this offseason but he is no lock to stay there. WTF?

“Honestly I’m focused on the season. When I got traded here my goal was to bring a championship here with the team that we have, and when that time comes around next year, you can ask me that question and we’ll revisit it,” Davis said.

“But right now, my focus is on this year and how I can help this team and help this organization become a championship team.”

This is just stupid. Can you imagine if you’re the Lakers right now? Davis bitched and whined about how he only wanted the Lakers, got his wish, then immediately declared that this may not be a permanent home. I couldn’t be more out on this guy and that’s coming from someone who enjoys watching the Lakers suffer.

If we’re being totally honest, I can see Davis bouncing. Here’s how that scenario plays out. Davis realizes he’s another Chris Bosh/Kevin Love, complains to Rich Paul, doesn’t like what he says, fires him, Lakers underachieve, LeBron starts to age, Davis leaves. Is that really so far fetched? I’m not the one who left the door open. It’s the wording that bothers me. He could have been very vague with that question. It’s that he will hit free agency regardless.

I truly don’t even think the Lakers are that good. We’re assuming LeBron James is going to be a top 3 player in his 17th season? That’s a tall ask. This team is also going to get torched on the defensive end. It has more shooting but not enough. Good luck.
