Anthony Davis: “I’m excited to play” Against The Pelicans

The game is finally upon us. The long-awaited game where the Pelicans play the Lakers and Anthony Davis. However, before he was even traded to the Lakers, AD was getting booed WHILE on the Pelicans. The game after his infamous trade request from New Orleans, they played the Minnesota Timberwolves. Anthony Davis talks about that experience  via Bill Oram of The Athletic:

“I kind of had a little bit of it after the trade (request), that first game against Minnesota,” Davis told a small group of reporters on Saturday following the Lakers’ win in Memphis. “Felt like I was on the other side. I got a little taste of it, but I know it’s going to be even worse.”

Now in his first game in New Orleans since the trade, Anthony Davis shares his emotions going back via Bill Oram of The Athletic:

“I’m excited to play,” he said. “Just like I was excited to play that first game against Minnesota last year, but I think you’ve got to embrace it.

“It’s two-folded,” Davis said. “It’s going to be me (against the) Pelicans, and then the three guys (Ball, Ingram and Hart), if they play, against the Lakers. So it’s going to be a great battle. Those guys are going to try to take our heads off just to prove a point.”

One of the key things this game is missing is the appearance of Zion Williamson, who has yet to play this season. Zion Williamson was not part of the Anthony Davis trade, however, I feel he is important to the identity of the New Orleans Pelicans after AD. He, along with the assets that were apart of the trade (Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, and Josh Hart) are the new Pelicans. Hopefully, it will be a great game. Anthony Davis is New Orleans #1 villain now, whether he commits to the Lakers after this year or not.
