Analyzing The Sam Howell Trade To Seattle
Sam Howell is on the move and he’s been traded to the Seattle Seahawks. This move kinda got swept under the rug during free agency but I think it needs to be talked about. Let’s do a deep dive on what the trade means for both teams.
I think Washington actually had a productive free agency period, but this trade is hard to like. Especially when you consider the fact that the Commanders decided to give money to Marcus Mariota. There is just no way anybody who watches football thinks the Commanders upgraded with Mariota. Like… are we forgetting that he was laughably bad with Philadelphia last year?
I’m still not sure I understand the motivation from moving on from Howell. A guy who had plenty of years of control under a cheap contract.
Howell, 23, actually played well last year. The Commanders’ offensive line just got him killed. If you’re smart, you know Eric Bieniemy truly is the villain. To move down in the draft while nabbing Howell is a nice piece of business by Seattle. Plus, if we’re all being honest; this Geno Smith thing is starting to get old fast. I don’t see why Seattle can’t further build on Howell’s value. A guy that was a top 10 fantasy quarterback pretty much all year.
I still think Howell has some Baker Mayfield in his game except is a better runner. The situation in Seattle is much better across the board. Howell realistically might be the best quarterback in that entire 2022 NFL Draft.
