American Yunus Musah Joins Christian Pulisic At AC Milan

Another American is heading to AC Milan. USMNT midfielder Yunus Musah will join the Rossoneri from La Liga club Valencia, according to Fabrizio Romano.

AC Milan will pay Valencia €18 million ($19.8 million) transfer fee with an additional €2-3 million in add-on fees. Musah is set to sign a five-year contract with the club.

The U.S. Soccer Young Male Player of the Year award-winner was born in New York City but grew up in Italy until the age of nine when he moved to London to join Arsenal’s academy. He moved through Arsenal’s academy ranks until he joined Valencia in 2019 when he was 16.

Although he initially began with Valencia’s reserves, Musah has become a mainstay in the club’s starting XI in the last few years. He made his debut at 17, and since then, he has made 108 first-team appearances for Valencia, operating on the wing and as a box-to-box midfielder. He scored six times for the Spanish side.

The 20-year-old has also become a mainstay for the USMNT. Musah has earned 27 caps for the national team so far, primarily operating in the midfield. He started all four games for the U.S. during the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

This is a good signing for AC Milan. Musah is incredibly accomplished for a 20-year-old midfielder. While he still needs to improve on his passing — which is vital for a midfielder — he is incredibly good with the ball at his feet. He is also incredibly pacey and has a very high work rate. If he can develop over the next few years, then he has the potential to become an elite midfielder for Milan.

Musah is now set to join his fellow American Christian Pulisic at AC Milan. Pulisic moved to Milan this summer after a difficult spell with Chelsea in the Premier League. Hopefully for the two USMNT stalwarts, AC Milan proves to be the place that helps take their game to another level.
