Danielle Hunter wants to stay in Minnesota forever

After inking a one-year, $20 million deal only a few days ago, edge rusher Danielle Hunter has reaffirmed his strong ties to Minnesota once again, declaring he wants to stay in Minnesota forever.

Hunter has been a dominant force for Minnesota for his entire career. The 28-year-old has never had a season below six sacks in his career. Over the course of his career, Hunter has recorded 71 sacks and 378 total tackles in 102 games played — that includes a career high 14.5 sacks in back-to-back seasons.

Hunter has gained so much recognition across the organization for his stellar play, including from defensive coordinator Brian Flores.

“Danielle is a phenomenal player. He’s a guy who has had a lot of success over the course of his career,” Flores said Wednesday. “He’s an impact player who brings an element of rush and is overall solid (versus) the run and pass, He’s someone who must be taken into account of where he is at so he does not cause havoc to the game offensively.“

Minnesota Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell praised Hunter for his play as well.

“Danielle Hunter is a very special player, and as soon as we can get him out here, you guys will see him out here, and our fans will see him out here,” O’Connell said Saturday.

Hunter is becoming recognized as one of the best edge rushers in today’s game, but this is the year he needs to shine. The Vikings have struggled in past years defensively, especially last season, in which the team surrendered over 6,600 total yards, 4,500 passing yards and 427 points.
