Aaron Rodgers: Will He Be Accountable For His Mistakes With The Jets?

Aaron Rodgers: Will He Be Accountable For His Mistakes With The Jets?

Two things can be true; Robert Saleh is a dope and Joe Douglas isn’t good at his job. Also, Aaron Rodgers isn’t totally blameless for the dysfunction even removing the injury from the equation. Rodgers recently said this during his end-of-the-year press conference and I just couldn’t believe it.

That’s an interesting statement. I just want to know if Rodgers is going to follow his own advice and be accountable for his actions. Is he going to take any blame for this mess? It’s not all his fault but some of it sure is.

The Allen Lazard contract never made a lick of sense. It was a gross overpay the second that puppy was signed. Lazard is only in New York because Rodgers pushed for it. Will Rodgers take any blame for that?

Or… what about the other cast of characters he brought with him from Green Bay? “eliminate everything that is not directly involved in winning.”

Did Billy Turner help them win games?

What about Randall Cobb? Did he contribute to winning?

What about Tim Boyle? Hell, the Jets even cut Boyle and totally scapegoated him.

Did any singular player have a positive impact that Rodgers brought with him? The obvious answer is no. That’s without even getting into the whole Nathaniel Hackett thing. The Jets had a 25.96% conversion rate on third down this year. That was good enough for dead last in the NFL. That’s without even talking about how big of a disaster the guy was in Denver the year before. This was Rodgers’ guy.

Are you starting to notice a trend? Will Rodgers be accountable for any of it? His moves put the Jets even further behind the eight ball. If the Jets are okay with rolling over and making poor roster moves, they may as well make him the overseer of the franchise.

Let’s just talk about it. Jordan Love is now a better quarterback and Green Bay just made the playoffs in their first year without Rodgers. They also have a nice young core and a few of those players are pieces from the Rodgers trade. That’s not including a second round pick that’s also coming their way.

Again, Rodgers isn’t the problem in New York but can we stop pretending like he’s contributing towards winning? He’s not on the field and the guys he brought in all suck. It is what it is.
