If you turn the card in with the second pick in the draft, and that player stinks, that general manager should never keep his job. End of story. No need for further discussion. Joe Douglas picked Zach Wilson and he needs to pay the consequences for it. As the Jets look to find their next franchise quarterback this upcoming offseason, it’s time to learn lessons of the past and make sure a different guy gets the opportunity to pick the right one.
Colin Cowterd can do his nonsense show and talk about how the Jets roster is improving. Other people like his butt buddy, Todd McShay, can sit there and praise the Jets’ draft classes. They can say whatever they want. The bottom line is Douglas stinks at his job and it’s absolutely insane to let this blob of an idiot keep his job.
Douglas’ first draft was a complete and utter whiff. That can’t be forgotten about. Douglas was given an opportunity and immediately bombed. Mekhi Becton is the one tackle from that draft class who isn’t any good. Andrew Thomas, Tristan Wirfs, and Jedrick Wills have thrived elsewhere. Something I hit right on the nose. Douglas also wasted his second round pick that year on Denzel Mims. A complete and utter bum that I tried to tell you was the case. Outside of the 6th round punter, there isn’t a notable guy from that draft on the roster.
The following year, Douglas picked Zach Wilson. Something that we now know is an egregious mistake. Of course, it didn’t have to be. Wilson is worse than I anticipated he would be. That doesn’t change the fact that Justin Fields should have been the pick the whole time. In a top twelve that also produced Ja’Mar Chase, Kyle Pitts, Jaylen Waddle, Patrick Surtain, Micah Parsons, Jayce Horn, DeVonta Smith, Penei Sewell, and Trevor Lawrence, that CANNOT be your outcome.
Every single player I just listed changed their team’s fortune for the better. All of them except Trey Lance and Zach Wilson. A five year old that picked names out of a hat had better odds. Yet… I’m supposed to sit here and act like Joe Douglas is good at his job? That I couldn’t do better blindfolded? Nonsense.
I’m supposed to give him credit for Sauce Gardner falling into his lap after taking the most obvious Jamal Adams trade ever? Blind squirrel found a nut. The Jets have a better roster because it was impossible not to with the situation that he inherited. It was a blank slate full of resources and Douglas has successfully found a way to create a worse version of the Mark Sanchez Jets. I’m supposed to praise him for it?
Get real, noob. Joe Douglas should be fired because we have enough evidence to suggest that a five year old could do better. Case closed.
