Willie Colon Perfectly Describes Why Bruce Arians Will Win In Tampa Bay

8 teams will hire new head coaches in 2019. If there is one that I absolutely love, it’s Bruce Arians. Tampa Bay hit a home run with Arians who is a proven winner. Arians had success in Pittsburgh, Indianapolis, and Arizona. He’s also worked with the likes of Peyton Manning, Ben Roethlisberger, Andrew Luck, and Carson Palmer in the past. Now Arians will take on a new challenge. Fixing Jameis Winston.

A lot of people have written off Jameis Winston and for good reason. Winston not only has been a constant headache, but the entire organization has been a flat out dumpster fire. Arians is Tampa’s best shot at righting the ship. I’m buying all of the Bucs stock because I believe in this.

Colon played for Arians in Pittsburgh when Bruce was the offensive coordinator. Arians won two Super Bowls in Pittsburgh and was a big part of the development of Ben Roethlisberger. Especially with a defensive head coach in place (Mike Tomlin) Arians had a huge responsibility crafting the offense.

The NFL is all about relationships. Do you know what Jameis Winston needs? A coach that isn’t going to put up with his bullshit. No eating W’s. No stealing crab legs. No groping Uber drivers. Someone that’s going to keep Winston in line. The biggest questions about Winston have nothing to do with talent. He was the number one quarterback recruit in the country coming out of high school for a reason. Winston’s biggest questions have to do with character and cutting down on idiotic decision making throwing the ball. Arians can fix both.

It’s the perfect fit for Winston. This is important. I’m not sure if Arians works well for example with a guy like Jared Goff. Remember Goff as a rookie? He needed a guy like Sean McVay who was going to say “Hey, follow my lead, I’m really smart. We’re going to win together”. Someone who was going to massage Goff’s confidence because he had none. Meanwhile, McVay has to babysit Goff talking him through each play down to 15 seconds but it works. Arians would have just said, “boy you better shake out of this funk a grow a pair”. That works with Winston.

Are We Sure Jameis Winston Stinks?

I’m so excited to see the Bucs next year. Jameis Winston finally has a fighting chance away from that idiot Dirk Koetter. Arians took a washed up Carson Palmer to an NFC Title Game appearance. Why can’t he do relatively the same with Winston?
