Chase Brown 2023 NFL Draft Profile
What once appeared intriguing no longer does. When it comes to Chase Brown, he was so bad at the Senior Bowl, I just can’t not forget about it. How can you? Let’s have a chat about the 2023 NFL Draft profile for Chase Brown!
Let’s start with the positives. The guy cares. There is no question that Brown is dedicated to the weight room. The work ethic is there. Brown is jacked and put up impressive numbers at the combine. Those numbers include a 4.43 40, 40 inch vertical, and 25 bench press reps. The character part of this isn’t something people should worry about.
The problem is he isn’t that good of an actual football player. Brown did virtually nothing the first three years of his career and started out his playing days at Western Michigan. We saw during the season and at the Senior Bowl that there are major fumble issues here. Maybe a hands issue because he couldn’t hold onto a ball to save his life sometimes. He’s an older college player that sort of popped as a really old college player. How many times do those guys turn into success stories?
That being said I did get to see Brown a few times. His combination of speed and power is noticeable. I just think we have elevated him into a territory in which he does not belong. His game against Michigan as linked in the paragraph was impressive. I’m not taking that away from him. On the season, Brown rushed for 1,643 yards (5.0 per carry) and ten touchdowns.
I’ve already crossed Chase Brown off my list for the 2023 NFL Draft. I just don’t see the ceiling for Brown to ever consider taking him outside of maybe a 7th round dart throw. Brown will likely be a third or fourth stringer out of the gates with a chance to work his way up. Let someone else reach here.
