Does anyone else find this cover image so hilarious? As soon as I saw it in the image database, I knew we had to go with it. If you have been following the site, you’re probably aware that I think Riley Leonard is pretty terrible, and we’re about to talk about why. So, without further delay, here is your 2025 NFL Draft profile on the Notre Dame quarterback.
NFL Draft Stock Report: Week 1, Week 8, College Football Playoff First Round, Sugar Bowl, National Championship, Senior Bowl (1), (2), (3), Game
Leonard, 22, has a background in basketball, but was recruited as a three star guy out of the state of Alabama. That includes being the 58th ranked quarterback and 33rd overall player in the state. After spending three years at Duke, the Fairhope native finished up with the Fighting Irish.
Look, we can do this song and dance all we want with Leonard. The bottom line is he’s essentially a wildcat quarterback who isn’t a speed demon who can only execute the QB draw. Notre Dame doesn’t play a conference schedule, and they play good enough defense to make a run all the way to the National Title. At the end of the day, we’re talking about a guy who had 184 carries at the quarterback position. A lot of them came because he stinks and can’t do anything else.
It’s all in the stock report notes. I just don’t know what reason there is to beat around the bush. 2,861 passing yards through 16 starts is absolutely pathetic. I don’t even see the point in beating the dead horse. He’s not a real quarterback. It’s like watching a worse version of Tim Tebow. How anybody is excited about this or is remotely taking is seriously is hilarious. At this point, I think we saw enough of Leonard to know he’s not even Daniel Jones level good coming out.
I have an undrafted grade on Riley Leonard. I feel like I’ve seen this story a thousand times. Why teams continue to waste draft picks on guys like Trace McSorely and Devin Leary blows my mind. The Notre Dame QB is no different.
