Roger Rosengarten 2024 NFL Draft Profile

We are going to be covering both Washington Offensive Tackles this evening, and first on the list is Roger Rosengarten. On the heels of a solid Senior Bowl, he would post really good times at the NFL Combine. Rosengarten is shaping up to be a late third, early fourth-round type of guy, but is that where he belongs in this loaded 2024 NFL Draft class for the position? Let’s talk about it.

Rosengarten, a former four-star recruit out of Littleton, CO, committed to play for the Huskies in 2020 and played all four seasons there. He wouldn’t see significant playing time until 2022, when he took over at Right Tackle. Worth noting that during his two years of starting, he only allowed 23 Quarterback hurries and a perfect zero sacks. Washington has played against some solid defenses, so allowing no sacks is impressive.

The movement times speak to what a big-time athlete Roger Rosengarten is. 4.92 at 6’5, 308 lbs is nothing to sneeze at. The footwork is clean, his kickback has good length, and hand placement always falls in the right spot. Definitely quicker than overall fast, but Washington used this well on swing plays. He is a mean blocker in the second level, always finishing a block to the ground. The quick, little movements, him being kind of twitchy should entice NFL teams.

One of the things working against Rosengarten is the length. He’s only got 80″ arms, and for a tackle that isn’t stellar, especially compared to some of the monsters in this class. Doesn’t do a great job dropping his ass to anchor in, leading him to be a little too upright at times. But potentially the biggest thing that stands out is the amount of speed guys who get by him, which hurts my brain a little based on his testing. Looks like he gets a little too aggressive and leans in when he needs to trust his hands and anchor more to stay centered.

I like Roger Rosengarten a little bit. He has the acceleration and short-field burst you want out of an Offensive Linemen. However, I would look to kick him inside to Guard in the NFL. I think he would be better suited inside with his length. I think the range I mentioned at the top of the article is right where he should be. He will make a solid rotation guy and someone who should fill in for an injury nicely while he fixes some things in his game.
