Why Did The Jets Cut Michael Carter?
I don’t care what anybody says. Joe Douglas is an idiot. So is Robert Saleh. I’m not saying Michael Carter is a world-beater, but cutting him made absolutely no sense. Carter has since been claimed by the Cardinals as the Jets lost Carter for nothing after selecting him in the 4th round of the 2021 NFL Draft.
Robert Saleh tried to defend the move that made no sense by only making the decision feel dumber.
“We felt like it wouldn’t be fair for [Carter] to just sit there and rot on the bench,” Saleh said Wednesday before the Jets conducted a walkthrough.
“He’s gonna get an opportunity and he’s gonna show why he’s capable of it,” Saleh said. “So I’m excited for him to get this fresh start, but releasing him was more about allowing him the opportunity …rather than just be selfish and have him be on our bench.”
WTF is that? Are you telling me they cut Carter because they thought it was unfair that he wasn’t getting enough playing time? Is that a real answer? Coming from the head coach that controls playing time?
This dude is a wacko. I have absolutely no faith that Saleh knows what he’s doing. Yeah, the guy is brilliant. I see his brilliance everyday. Defensive line guru who coaches a unit that ranks 31st in rushing yards allowed per game (138.4 rushing yards allowed per game). Yeah, he’s brilliant. I got it. Everybody else is the problem.
There was a very clear answer that should have happened. Cut Dalvin Cook. Give Carter and Israel Abanikanda more playing time. How hard was that? Of course, the Jets do the stupid thing again. Cook already said he wants out and he’s playing like garbage.
