Roquan Smith: ‘Glad’ Bears Traded Him To Ravens

The Baltimore Ravens have the number one rated defense in the NFL allowing 13.8 points per game. The smart people know that Roquan Smith has totally turned the tide on that entire unit. During an old post I did about Roquan signing an extension with Baltimore details the difference he’s made with that defense. The Ravens should feel lucky to have him on their side.

On the flip side, the Chicago Bears are 2-16 since the trade. That’s the worst mark in the NFL. Ryan Poles is an idiot and anyone who has an ounce of intelligence has figured that out by now. Anyone who trades down in the draft to swap Roquan for Chase Claypool should not be employed. We already broke that down in another post you can read here.

The former Georgia linebacker finally opened up about what it’s been like since Chicago traded him. Roquan didn’t mince words. He essentially said he’s so happy the Bears traded him because his career would have gone down the drain otherwise.

“Man, it’s pretty crazy thinking back to when I was initially traded,” Smith told Abert Breer of SI.com. “It was bittersweet for me, just knowing Chicago and rightfully so. But if I would’ve stayed there, honestly, [I] wouldn’t have been able to compete for a title anytime soon. And then when I came over here, it took me a while, like a couple of weeks, to really realize how stacked this team was, as well as how many good people there are on this team, and how they just bring in truly good people. And when I just think about it from the perspective of having the opportunity to compete for one year in and year out with the talent we have. Man, it makes me so happy, just knowing my career is not going down the drain, in the sense of playing somewhere where I’m not truly competing for a title.”

Roquan also says that he believes he was meant to play for the Ravens.

“That’s something I really pride myself on and just coming here,” Smith said. “We live it every single day. And it’s from top to bottom. And I just couldn’t be more excited just to be a part of a great organization that I am.”

Show me the lie. You can’t. The Bears are a total disaster and Smith is making a real difference in Baltimore. Can’t say the same for Claypool in Chicago…

Don’t worry, Bear fans will find a way to continue to defend this dope Ryan Poles when he’s single-handedly destroying their team. This is just one example of that and it shouldn’t be forgotten.
