Only after signing with the Baltimore Ravens just a few months ago, Odell Beckham Jr. has grown concerned with his health. The concern has grown so big that Beckham has even considered retirement from the NFL as an option.
Ravens star quarterback Lamar Jackson formally recruited Beckham to Baltimore during the offseason, after Beckham came off a gruesome ACL Tear in Super Bowl LVI against the Cincinnati Bengals.
“I went through a lot the last couple of years, and I thought it was over,” the star wide receiver recently said, according to Dan Pompei of The Athletic. “I didn’t want to get back up on the horse and do the same song and dance all over again.”
Beckham, 30, has been stung by the injury bug many times in his career, including his torn ACL that kept him out of the 2023 season.
Now, on the Ravens, Beckham earned himself quite the big payday, earning $15 million guaranteed. A potential overpay for the injury-prone wide receiver, Beckham could become a big signing for the Ravens. Lamar Jackson begged for a better offensive core around him, even when his accuracy is still not feared by teams.
“If I’m honest, I was resistant,” he said. “There were other places I wanted to go. I wasn’t necessarily a Ravens fan – because the Ravens always whipped my ass.
Beckham will look to get back to the playoffs once again with Baltimore, as the former Pro Bowl receiver has only made the postseason twice in his career.
“I’m thinking like this is my last year,” Beckham said. “I’m going to give it my all this year. And then if something happens after that, we can go from there.”
Will Odell turn out to be a home run signing with the Ravens? Is his career over? Let us know in the comments.
