Jerry Jones: Odell Beckham Jr. ‘could look pretty good’ with Cowboys

Dak Prescott and the Cowboys’ offense are off to an extremely slow start. Yet, they’re 6-2 going into Week 10. Wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. is still a free agent, and if he has any interest in Dallas, the team’s owner would love to have him.

Jerry Jones spoke on 105.3 The Fan in Dallas on Tuesday, and expressed how good Beckham would look with a Cowboy Star on his helmet.

“[Beckham] is someone we have all the appreciation in the world for what he is as a competitor and know that the Cowboys star on the helmet when he puts it on could look pretty good.”

In eight games against the Cowboys with the New York Giants and Cleveland Browns, Beckham has 40 catches for 558 yards and seven touchdowns. He hasn’t played since the Super Bowl last year when he tore his ACL in the Rams’ victory against the Cincinnati Bengals.

On Monday, coach Mike McCarthy said he has, “always been a huge fan of Beckham.” Former and current assistants on his staff have vouched for him as well. I’m sure Prescott would also love to have another offensive weapon in his arsenal.

While nothing has been set between the two teams, Beckham has mentioned the Cowboys as one of the teams he’d like to end his career with to find a ‘forever’ home in that city.

“Whether it’s Buffalo, whether it was Green Bay calling, the Cowboys, reunion with the Giants, I want to be able to spill my last — not saying I only got three or four [seasons] left — but these next three or four years into something where I can buy a home, like I can call this place home. I’m tired of living out of two-week suitcases, I’ve done the rock-and-roll life.”

The Cowboys are desperate for offensive help as well. They have the 25th-ranked pass offense and have not had a receiver have a 100-yard game yet this season. With guys like Ceedee Lamb and Michael Gallup, it’s surprising to see their offense rank so low. Jones also said he believes that will pick up as Prescott gets more comfortable following his thumb injury.

While catching up to the undefeated Eagles will be a challenge, adding a receiver like Odell can almost guarantee the Cowboys the playoffs. Dallas is a hot spot for free agents, and Odell would love an NFC East return.
