Lamar Jackson, Ravens Agree To All-Time Deal

ESPN is going to have to find something else to talk about. Lamar Jackson has signed a five-year “mega-deal” with the Baltimore Ravens, according to Ian Rapoport.

The deal will be five years, $260 million for Jackson, according to Rapoport. That makes him the highest-paid player of all time, beating out Jalen Hurts, who signed his $255 million contract last week. Jackson gets $185 million guaranteed from the deal. $52 million a year and $185 million guaranteed? Pretty hard to beat that.

Jackson made the deal official when he tweeted out a video from his car.

“For the last few months, there’s been a lot of ‘he said she said’… a lot of nailbiting, a lot of head scratching going on. But, for the next five years, there will be a lot of flock going on,” Jackson said, as he waived his Ravens football.

“Can’t wait to get there, can’t wait to be there, can’t wait to light up M&T (Bank Stadium) for the next five years man, let’s get it!”

Jackson and the Ravens have been going back and forth all offseason long in a highly publicized contract dispute. In fact, this might be the most press that’s ever been involved in a contract dispute. Many thought that Jackson wouldn’t budge until he got as much guaranteed money as Deshaun Watson.

Jackson hasn’t played 15 or more games since the 2020 season. The former Heisman winner is the pinnacle of being a dual-threat quarterback. He won the 2019 NFL MVP award.

Some Ravens fans are going to be ecstatic that they’ve locked down thier franchise quarterback. You can’t say the same for now-ex-Ravens fan and Vendetta boss Trey Daubert.

I’m not sure if all Ravens agree with Trey or not. However, for Baltimore’s front office, it’s time to exhale: you’ve secured your quarterback for the next five seasons. Now, the Ravens hold the 22nd overall pick in Thursday’s NFL Draft.
