You are what your record says you are. In the case of Pat Shurmur, he can only be described as a pathetic human being and that’s being generous. Shurmur is 17-43 as a head coach in the NFL. That’s a 28 percent winning percentage. Here’s my question… what more do we need to see? Why in the world does Pat Shurmur still have a job? The Giants are just wasting time keeping Shurmur as their head coach.
What does Shurmur do well? I can see the impact that Kyle Shanahan has in San Francisco. I can see the impact that Sean McVay has in LA. Hell, Jon Gruden has done his part in Oakland. What is it that Pat Shurmur does? I understand the fact that those losses were with the Cleveland and the Giants. I understand there hasn’t been talent to work with. Winning 28 percent of games in two spots is inexcusable.
Who is Shurmur helping develop? Name one player on the Giants who is exceeding expectations? Every week is the same. Giants lose and Shurmur takes podium with a classic “we gotta get back to work” then they lose again the next week. There is no plan in New York. There is no great coaching job here. The whole franchise is a mess.
The funny thing is, they actually want to bring back Shurmur. There is one exception. If (when) Jason Garrett gets fired, they would prefer him. That tells you everything you need to know about the Giants and Pat Shurmur. If a team wants Jason Garrett to replace you, then you know Shurmur sucks. If you’re a team and you actually want Garrett as your head coach, that epitomizes everything wrong with the Giants. They have lost their way.
