REPORT: Giants Could Hire Jason Garrett If Cowboys Fire Him
The next head coach of the New York Giants is… Jason Garrett? Apparently, that could happen. When there’s smoke, there’s fire. We know that Garrett is a dead man walking in Dallas. It’s Super Bowl or beat it mode in Dallas. It looks like Garrett wouldn’t be out of a job for too much longer when the Cowboys fire him. The Giants are angling for Garrett to be their next head coach.
Ian Rapoport of NFL Network had the following:
I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the fact that Rap Sheet stinks at his job. We live in a world with horrendous NFL reporters so there’s only so much I can do here. We have to roll with the reports that are given. Rap Sheet could be lying like he’s known to do but I think this one has some truth to it.
Pat Shurmur is 17-42 as a head coach in the NFL. At some point, we have to recognize that Shurmur can’t coach. It is what it is. Garrett does actually have a more than respectable record at 85-66 with Dallas over the years. Garrett seems perfect for the Giants. Princeton guy who would be another puppet for John Mara to control.
How great would that be? Can you imagine that exchanges between Garrett and Daniel Jones? Oh, the entertainment. You already know Garrett probably loves what Alzheimer Gettleman has cooking over there. You can just picture it already. Garrett clapping at a Daniel Jones fumble and then watching Jones give him the Eli face. It just works. The only problem is Garrett can’t clap his way to victory with the Giants because this roster stinks.
