2025 NL Central Breakout Stars

C’mon, you’re smart. You know what we’re going for at this point. If you haven’t been keeping up, here are the articles for the AL EastAL CentralAL West, and NL East. We now direct our attention for the NL Central heading into the 2025 MLB Season. Feel free to comment if you hate or love the list.

Cincinnati Reds: Elly De La Cruz

This one feels like cheating but I don’t think there is another answer. Unless you’re a big time casual, you already know who this player is. Even made an All-Star appearance last year. Heading into year three, it’s a matter of if we’re looking at a really good player or a franchise blue chip cornerstone. 67 steals is cool but 218 punch outs sure is not. A lot of his raw numbers went up from year one to year two but is he really that 1% type of player? We’re about to find out.

Chicago Cubs: Pete Crow-Armstrong

The Cubs stole Crow-Armstrong in the Javy Baez trade. It’s really a matter of if the Mets will lose sleep over making the stupid ass trade or if they will get off the hook for it. If Crow-Armstrong is ‘Just A Guy’ this was really a blown opportunity that could have pushed the Cubs to somewhere. Heading into year three, it’s go time.

Pittsburgh Pirates: Jared Jones

I promise I won’t cheese for this one. Paul Skenes isn’t the only one with talent in the Pirates rotation. Jared Jones just might pretty damn good in his own right. Showed some flashes as a rookie posting a 4.14 ERA in 22 starts. Has serious heat on his fastball and can create swing-and-misses. If the Pirates are sneaky good this year, don’t be surprised and it will likely start with Jones taking that leap.

Milwaukee Brewers: Jeferson Quero

Something to watch for here. The Brewers are a small market team and their number one prospect is a catcher who is pretty much ready defensively. On the other hand, William Contreras is probably one of the Brewers’ better players. How will they handle this and if they fall out of the race, will the switch at catcher begin?

St. Louis Cardinals: Masyn Winn

It’s going to be years of pain coming for the Cardinals, especially with nerd mode taking over. Winn is probably the one holdover from the previous regime who has potential. 4.9 WAR player in 150 games last year. Boom mode might be coming and he has some power in his bat. Sneaky player to really hone in on with the Cardinals.
