2023 Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Targets: Week 12
The 2023 fantasy football playoffs are quickly approaching. It is time to find some talent on the fantasy football waiver wire to help close the season strong.
The premier fantasy football waiver wire targets feature a few players that have already been mentioned. Still, they are the best available players this week. In a weak crop of players, let’s take what we can get.
The following players have already been discussed in previous weeks and remain viable options.
- Week 2: Romeo Doubs
- Week 4: Marvin Mims, Tyjae Spears
- Week 5: Jameson Williams, Michael Wilson, Keaton Mitchell
- Week 6: Josh Downs, Rashee Rice, Curtis Samuel
- Week 8: Kyler Murray, Taysom Hill, Dalton Kincaid
- Week 10: Joshua Dobbs, Demario Douglas, Trey McBride,
- Week 11:Keaton Mitchell, Noah Brown, Ty Chandler
- Week 12: Zach Charbonnet, Odell Beckham, Jayden Reed
Pat Freiermuth–41.9%
The Pittsburgh Steelers finally fired Matt Canada. In the Steelers’ first game without him, the team had one of its best offensive performances of the year. That led to a breakout from tight end Pat Freiermuth. The Penn State product logged nine catches for 120 yards.
Freiermuth is a solid player. The only reason he is available on the fantasy football waiver wire is because of injuries and playing in a poor offense. Now, he is healthy and playing in an improved offense.
I am not expecting the Steelers to be an elite offense; however, I am expecting Freiemuth to be more involved. That should make him a solid TE option.
Freiermuth is the top fantasy football waiver wire target heading into Week 13. In simplest terms, he can be a starting tight end. That is a valuable waiver wire addition.
Chuba Hubbard–48.6%
The Carolina Panthers have been a battle of tug-of-war between Chuba Hubbard and Miles Sanders. In Week 12, Hubbard won that battle as he finished with 92 total yards and a touchdown. Meanwhile, Sanders has 15 carries for 28 yards.
It will be worth watching how the Panthers’ backfield shapes out. The offense is a mess and Frank Reich has been fired. That leaves some questions surrounding Hubbard’s workload. From an outside perspective, Hubbard appears to be the hot hand. In theory, he should continue to get touches.
At a minimum, Hubbard should be rostered. It is hard to identify his ceiling. That will be much clearer a week from now. Still, Hubbard is a solid fantasy football waiver-wire target at the running back position.
Jayden Reed–31.5%
Green Bay Packer wide receiver Jayden Reed returns as a fantasy football waiver wire target for the second week in a row. Reed finished Week 12 with 50 yards and a touchdown.
The Green Bay Packers offense is turning a corner. That has led to Reed getting valuable touches. Furthermore, he has the explosive ability to rip off big plays.
I do not love Reed as a player, but he is currently hot and the Packers are consciously working to get him involved. That is a recipe for fantasy football points. It also makes him a worthy waiver wire addition.
Keaton Mitchell–33.6%
I am, once again, advising you to add Baltimore Ravens running back Keaton Mitchell.
Mitchell has been a repeated waiver wire target here at Vendetta Sports Media. I featured him in this waiver wire post in Week 5 and Week 11. Trey also advised to buy his stock.
The Ravens running back room is up for the taking. Mitchell is currently competing for carries against Gus Edwards and Justice Hill. In Week 12, he ended with the most touches. On the stat sheet he logged nine carries for 64 yards and two catches for 25 yards.
Mitchell is the most explosive back in Baltimore and has the most upside. At the same time, his role in the offense continues to grow. Edwards will likely get short-yard carries and could snag touchdowns. I do not think that makes Mitchell fantasy irrelevant, however.
If Mitchell continues to gain touches, he will be in a great position when the fantasy football playoffs roll around.
