This post is more so directed at dynasty and keeper league fantasy football owners. Are you paying attention to Keaton Mitchell? If not, you should be. You need to consider buying Mitchell stock in fantasy football before it’s too late.

Mitchell, a rookie out of East Carolina, finally popped off last week in garbage time against Seattle. In what was essentially his debut performance, Mitchell rushed for 138 yards including a touchdown on nine carries.

None of this should be viewed as surprising. In fact, I actually drafted him in my fantasy league. I just couldn’t justify signing him to a contract because he didn’t make their team. Mitchell started the season on the practice squad after going undrafted. Every team in the league made a mistake not carrying Mitchell on their team to start the season. The Ravens are going to reap the rewards of taking a chance on Mitchell as an undrafted free agent.

The truth of the matter is, Mitchell should have been drafted. I absolutely loved this guy coming out of East Carolina (link to draft profile). If he played for a bigger school, he definitely would have gotten drafted. For sure on the smaller side but you can’t teach the juice this guy has. Fast and explosive. He’s going to be a big play hitter and resembles a lot of the things that De’Von Achane is doing in Miami.

Volume is going to be a question mark here but if you’re smart that’s not a problem because you play in a best ball league. Mitchell may never become the primary back in Baltimore but they’re going to find more and more ways to get this guy the ball. Down the line, Mitchell has a chance to steal this job.

If you’re in a long term fantasy league, buy his stock while you still can. There are too many good things going in his favor to ignore Mitchell in fantasy.

The offensive line in Baltimore is good. He’s a total burner and can win weeks with one big run. Mitchell can also catch and will work his way up in the passing game. Go pick him up and thank me later.
