2021 NFL Draft Stock Report: Week 11

Week 11 wasn’t the most exciting week to go over in regards to the 2021 NFL Draft. There wasn’t a single ranked vs. ranked matchup in the entire week. Nevertheless, I will do my best to cover the changes in the 2021 NFL Draft. Who stood out for better or worse?

The games that are covered this week includes: Miami Ohio vs. Buffalo, East Carolina vs. Cincinnati, Penn State vs. Nebraska, USC vs. Arizona, and Florida vs. Arkansas.

Miami Ohio vs. Buffalo

Buffalo beat the piss out of Miami Ohio 42-10. That scouting portion didn’t go exactly as planned. Jaret Patterson has been the shining star of the MAC. Somehow his backup outperformed him. I’m not going to hold it against him. I know what Patterson brings to the table. However, 20 carries for 73 yards wasn’t exactly inspiring. Two touchdowns do help though.

My question is do we have another draftable running back in this backfield? Kevin Marks Jr. was impressive. Miami of Ohio really did a nice job making it difficult on the backs. Marks somehow recorded a 109-yard performance on 16 carries.

I think there’s something here. I got serious James Starks vibes here. Marks similarly is tall and brings plus power to the table. I’m not saying the guy is a star but Marks looks like he can play. Let’s keep tabs on it.

East Carolina vs. Cincinnati

I can’t help that this week’s slate of games suck. Be happy there’s another game that I covered instead of getting canned on a Friday night. I’ll be the first to admit the game was turned off at halftime. Cincinnati pummeled East Carolina 55-17. Still, there was a prospect to scout.

During the broadcast, Jarrell White was described as the team’s sniper. The Senior linebacker does pretty much everything. White finished with seven tackles, one sack, one tackle for loss, one pass deflection, and a sexy pick 6.

I’m not saying White will go nearly this high but it sort of reminded me of Hasson Reddick at Temple who was drafted in the first round by the Cardinals. I don’t expect White to go nearly that high but the dude can play. Well, at least looks like he can play from the one half I saw him.

Penn State vs. Nebraska

I hate Penn State. How are they so bad? I can’t remember the last time a top ten team just went out and lost four straight? That program is embarrassing. Sean Clifford did his best Shea Patterson impression and Penn State lost 30-23 to Nebraska.

I don’t have much here. Shame on me for betting on the fraud Lions. The only thing I have is Pat Freirmuth – that guy is not fast.

How slow can you be? How do you not score here? I really want to know what Freirmuth runs in the 40? I’m going to guess it’s not going to be a great time.

USC vs. Arizona

USC won another squeaker against Arizona. The Wildcats were ranked as the worst team in the Pac 12 coming into the season and went 12 rounds with the Trojans. USC won 34-30 in a game where they really didn’t look good.

Look, I don’t have much here either. Mostly, I continue to come back for the running backs. Stephen Carr has clearly separated from Vavae Malepeai. Carr finished the day with 12 carries for 80 yards and a score. Malepeai notched five carries for eight yards and a touchdown.

Don’t ask me why Malepeai continues to get touches. It’s been a three year mystery. USC has another pretty good back but I’m not sure he will declare. Markese Stepp has some talent. I’m just not sure how explosive this bowling ball is.

Carr has righted his stock thus far this season. By no means will he be one of the first backs off the board. What I do know is you might get a real steal. He’s got talent and is a natural at the position.

Florida vs. Arkansas

At some point, you just have to tip your hat. College football is the information process. Kyle Trask is playing his ass off. Coming into the season, I didn’t take him seriously as an NFL quarterback. I thought he had a lot of work to do. Well… he’s a hell of a lot better than a year ago.

Florida slaughtered the Arkansas Razorbacks 63-35. Coming into the game, Arkansas was back to a respectable level too. They held Ole Miss to 21 points which is an accomplishment. Trask just blitzed the entire program is the ultimate fuck you Felipe Franks game.

Trask finished the game 23/29 for 356 yards AND SIX TOUCHDOWNS. Look, it’s time to acknowledge the guy can play. He’s more athletic than I gave him credit for and the ball jumps off his hand. Trask has more than plus arm strength. He’s very much quarterback built at 6-foot-5, 240. The guy is a load.

More so than anything, his ball placement has blown me away. There were a couple of throws he made that were put in the only spot that had a shot of being completed.

I’m not going to go crazy here either. The guy can play. He’s very much draftable now. First round? No, I’m not ready to say Trask can go win me a Super Bowl. Those are the only guys I take in that round. However, it was a good step in the right direction. To do this without Kyle Pitts? You have my attention now.

I still need to figure out the wide receivers on this Florida roster. They lost four to the NFL a year ago. Can Penn State transfer Justin Shorter play? Trevon Grimes had himself a hell of a day. Kadarius Toney is just a weapon. There’s more work to do here.

I want to close it out with Rakeem Boyd. The Razorbacks running back was in one of the seasons of Last Chance U. Boyd just looks like a home run hitter in baseball. He’s going to strike out a bunch which is the biggest problem I have with him.

The speed is there but there’s very much a Russell Westbrook headbutting a wall over and over again expecting a different result. I think maybe Boyd is worth a look in the late rounds but not much else. I also think there’s a chance he runs a pretty fast time.
