The Philadelphia Eagles were hit hard by the injury bug in 2019. Heading into 2020, Philadelphia made some big improvements. Javon Hargrave and Darius Slay are both coming to town. The 2020 NFL Draft is a big one for Philadelphia. It can potentially turn them into Super Bowl contenders or keep them on the outside looking in. Let’s head inside their 2020 NFL Draft War room to see what Howie Roseman has up his sleeve.

The Eagles have 8 picks this year. 3 of which are in the 4th round which can swing the draft for them. Their top 3 picks come in at 21, 53, and 103. We will focus on those picks.

It’s no secret that the Eagles need a wide receiver. DeSean Jackson wasn’t healthy last year. He made a hell of a difference when he was on the field. Alshon Jeffery is a shell of himself. The rest of the group is mostly unreliable and you don’t want Greg Ward as a primary option. My guess is the Eagles are looking at two options. A trade up for CeeDee Lamb and or Jerry Jeudy is one of those options. Roseman leapfrogged the Texans to land Andre Dillard last year. If one of those top receivers are on the board at 15 or so, maybe the Eagles move up a few spots.

If that’s not an option, KJ Hamler is an Eagle. Howie Roseman loves players from Pennsylvania colleges. Miles Sanders, Avonte Maddox, Shareef Miller, and Trevor Williams are players on the roster that fall into that category. If he has a chance to land someone from Penn State or Pittsburgh, Roseman does it. If Hamler is on the board at 53, he will pick him.

Linebacker is the other big area of need. Do they really want to trot Nathan Gerry and TJ Edwards out there this year? Troy Dye of Oregon could fit that need in the 3rd round. Dye is a player with good speed and range to cover ground. In 2019, Dye recorded 84 tackles, 2.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, and two interceptions. Philly needs someone like this to patrol the middle of the defense.
