I’ve been watching a lot of stand-up comedy during this corona break. I’m making the best of things without sports. After discovering Tom Segura, I was hesitant to watch Bert Kreischer. It’s impossible to not have this thought prior to seeing him. Who’s this jerk off that takes his shirt off to do stand-up? After discovery Segura, I did my research and found out that Kreischer and Segura are really good friends. I gave Bert Kreischer a try and I do not regret it.
I have two takeaways to the Hey Big Boy Netflix special. The first is that his bit on the Starbucks employee exchange is gold. I won’t ruin it but this story by itself makes the show. The real life stories that Kreischer has are so funny. His Machine story from a previous special is by far the best story but this Starbucks one comes close.
The second takeaway to me is his family. Kreischer’s daughters have to be the coolest kids on the planet. The stories that Kreischer tells on his daughter Ila are so funny. The brain on that kid is so fascinating that Kreischer can just tell the story and it’s funny. They are too good to make up. This special is worth tuning into based on those stories alone.
Last thing I want to mention. Bert has a sex joke in the Hey Big Boy special about practicing safe sex. It doesn’t take long to get to the punchline but it’s something you don’t see coming.
Again, I was hesitant to give Bert Kreischer a chance but the Hey Big Boy special is hilarious. I think the best way to describe him would be that he is a big-time boozer but is a functioning hilarious one that never comes off in a bad way. The man is hilarious. The Segura special and now Kreischer special are probably the two best things I’ve watched during quarantining.
