Zach Brown Took Shots At Kirk Cousins

The Philadelphia Eagles are set to take on the Vikings in Minnesota. One story line going into the game is whether bad Kirk or good Kirk Cousins is going to show up. The Eagles have a game plan going into the game. Well, I guess I should say lack of a gameplan. It doesn’t look like the Eagles respect Cousins. I know former teammate Zach Brown certainly does not respect Kirk Cousins.

Reporters asked Brown about Cousins. He didn’t mince words:

“Cousins, I think every defense is going to want that guy to throw the ball,” Brown said after Friday’s practice. “For me, that’s probably the weakest part of their offense is him. Everything else is good. They’ve got a good running game, probably one of the best in the league. They have real good receivers. You just want them to pass the ball. You want Kirk Cousins to get it in his hands.”

“I realized when I was in Washington, he was kind of careless with the ball. But at the same time, hey, you make the bed you sleep in,” Brown said.

“I was at the Redskins with him so I know about him. That’s my viewpoint on him.”

YIKES. This sounds a lot like what Tramon Williams had to say about Mitch Trubisky. “We just want him to do that quarterback thing“. In this case, it’s we want Kirk Cousins to throw the ball. BRUTAL. It would appear that the Eagles will do everything they can to slow down Dalvin Cook. A lot of guys in the box and make Cousins beat them.

For the record, Philadelphia has been very good against the run all year. The Eagles are allowing just 63 rushing yards per game. That probably means you can’t expect a huge game from Cook. It’s going to come down to Cousins. Can he beat what is a suspect secondary.

I don’t love this move from Brown. You gotta do this after the game. Belichick would never do this. He would call Cousins a “Very good quarterback” and move on. That’s why the Patriots are the best. Brown is putting a lot of pressure on a bad Eagles secondary. Kirk Cousins is 5-3 lifetime against the Eagles with 17 touchdowns and 5 interceptions. Cousins has probably been better against the Eagles than any other team in his career.
