Year 3 Vendetta State Of The Union

It’s not a matter of if but when. As we head into year three of the Vendetta Sports Media venture, it’s time to start giving the state of the union speech on a yearly basis. It’s not a matter of if but when. That’s my rallying cry heading into 2021.

I’m not just here to take part. I’m here to take over. That’s been the mission since day one. The time has come to address the goals and overall objectives heading into year three of the company. It’s been a wild ride but I’m enjoying every second of it.

Opening Remarks

I’m not going to sit here and tell you what you already know. Vendetta was built to be different. blah, blah, blah. What I really want to accomplish is to really get my message across for year three and have our people ready to rock in 2021.

It’s not a secret. I started this company because I believe I am the best sports brain on the planet. It’s criminal that I’m not a general manager, but life isn’t fair. I hope every single person that walks through these virtual doors believes the same thing I do about themself.

I believe the culture we have built here is already starting to show through our readership. Our views continue to double and triple by the day. What we are building is unlike anything out there on the internet.

ESPN continues to decline because they are built on lies and inauthentic bullshit. Barstool is thriving and they have the right mindset for the most part. However, I believe there’s a place for Vendetta to build a better and more intelligent platform. Our time is coming.

Most people want to be handed a silver spoon and to walk right into a sports gig without working for it. That’s the thing people don’t understand about Trey Daubert. I’ll punch myself in the face for five hours straight just because you said I couldn’t do it. I will not fail. This company will not fail. You don’t know what hunger is until you live, breathe, and are willing to die to get what you want.

As we head into year three, I can taste it. To be frank, I sit there at night thinking about how asinine it would be to not invest in us. It’s only a matter of time before advertisers start flocking to us. I know this because the numbers speak for themselves.

My 2021 couldn’t be off to a worse start for non-site related reasons. I’m a man on a war path right now. The light is at the end of the tunnel. You’re going to have to unload five bullets into my chest to stop this train.

Internal Statements

When I first started this company, it wasn’t easy. I spent five years before even starting this brand just soaking up information. I was a sponge and never took a penny. I learned what to do and what not to do. I wrote for three different platforms before branching out on my own. Let’s just say if only our own people knew what a dysfunctional sports network looked like.

I initially wanted to be by myself for five years. I never wanted to give people false expectations or false promises. We’re now in year three and I’m responsible for 40-50 people. The snowball effect is very much real. We’re way ahead of schedule.

Sometimes I sit there at night and really reflect. Being responsible for that many people is a big fucking deal. These people trust me with their careers. That’s not something I take lightly. It’s overwhelming but I know it’s just the beginning. It also speaks to our culture. People want to be part of the Vendetta Family. People recognize that what we’re building here is SPECIAL.

Right now we’re very much in a sink or swim environment. The talented people will swim. The not so talented people will sink. 99 percent of the people that have left this company are gone because they realized on their own they weren’t talented enough. That 99 percent number is an accurate depiction.

Not everyone is built to be a sports personality. You either got it or you don’t. I’m looking for weird brains and iconic personalities as much as I’m looking for talented writers. Sure, there’s a place for good writers. What makes YOU different? What makes YOU talented. A vast majority of the people that have left here are gone because they realized they didn’t have the make up or that they weren’t talented enough.

I’ve interviewed a bunch of people for our internship program. Every person has the same answer – “I’m passionate about sports and it’s something I’ve always been interested in”. Great… what makes YOU special? To get this company to the next level, we need people that are shining stars. We need people that aren’t just passionate. They’re willing to eat a Christmas tree if that’s what it takes to be a star.

We have 40-50 people at the moment and counting. If you’re one of those people, just know you’re competing against everyone. Not just the people within our site community, but in the world. You’re always being watched. Make yourself a priority. Get in front of the line when that time comes. Life is a competition. This company is here to bring out the best in people and to help turn people into trained blogging killers.

Goals

I have a lot of goals and objectives for year three. Some that I’m willing to share. Others I’ll keep to myself. The journey is long and tiring. We have a long way to go but I’m thrilled with the progress being built here.

Our sports content is a great foundation. That being said, it’s time to expand. Important non-sports topics will start to be covered. Whether that be viral moments, gaming, movies, pop culture, etc; those things will start to become a major priority.

The podcasts will also start to become more and more of a priority. I promise you the viewer that – That’s Some Cheese will come out on a more regular basis. It’s a chance for me to not only talk sports but to give company updates to the viewers that need to be shared.

As a way to show support to our viewers, the primary podcasts on our network will be getting audio producers. Little details like that go a long way. We want to deliver the best possible content. Our shows will all take massive steps forward in 2021.

Social media is also going to be a major sticking point for the upcoming year. We’re experiencing success in terms of view numbers with really no social media footing. Outside of the simple sharing of articles, we have not come close to putting our best foot forward on social. The fact that we’re experiencing the type of growth we are despite having no social media presence only speaks to our content and brand.

Social media is going to get a big tick up in 2021. With the help of several people, our goal is to make the name Vendetta more well know across each platform. We’re not here to take part, we’re here to take over. You’re just going to see more of it.

Our YouTube page will only continue to demand more attention. Our guy Jackson has carried much of the load but it’s hard to ignore the growth the channel has undergone. Between the gaming series and consistent uploading of shows only helps. The more time goes on, the more unique video content we will provide.

People have been brought in to help with the advertising part of the business. I won’t say too much here other than the fact that the price goes up every single day. I’m not sure what companies are waiting for because this stock only goes up every single day.

Leadership Agendas

When I first started this venture, I did 10 posts pretty much every single day. Those days are over for the most part. It’s time for Trey to do more managing and guiding. I still get plenty of posts out. You don’t need to worry, there will always be Trey time the viewers get to see. That’s why I’m making That’s Some Cheese more of a priority moving forward.

I spend a good six hours a day just reviewing posts and answering people on Slack. That number is probably low, to be honest. I’m taking it as a challenge. Being able to mold and shape pro bloggers is part of the job.

The internship program is really starting to take off. We have a big batch of people coming in for the Spring semester. I’m thankful for the way it’s progressed but also know I have my work cut out for me training every person.

I know how to lead one way and one way only. People here are going to get called out. Get in line or get the fuck out. Whether it be as the captain of the wrestling team, leading organized weight lifting sessions in college, or leading this website; I do things the same way. One of the things I’m the proudest of here is our culture.

The people that are successful here have bought into the culture. I believe in accountability, authenticity, and intuitive. The ones who have moved up the list have brought those skill sets to the table. They get what we’re trying to do here. Think and plan ahead. This venture will not succeed if it’s just Trey Daubert bringing the heat every day.

How To Become A Star

It’s not a secret that right now we’re still in the baby stages. Right now my message to everyone would be make yourself irreplaceable. Get in the front of the line. Push boundaries, be intelligent. Be funny, smart, and witty. I’m looking for characters as much as I’m looking for pure bloggers. Be different. There’s always someone watching you.

What makes you special beyond just being passionate about sports? I’ve interviewed what feels like 100 people. They all say the same shit. Nobody cares that you like sports. What can you do that the other 99 percent of the media personalities can’t? I can promise you that you’re not as smart as you think you are.

Closing Thoughts

All of the eggs are in the basket. I’m all the way in. You won’t outwork me. You can’t take my eye of the tiger away. It’s not a matter of if, but when.
