The Yankees are having a disastrous start to their season on the field. Having lost five straight games for the first time since 1997, the fans are growing restless in the Bronx watching their Yankees strike out and embarrass themselves.
Before I get going too deep into this, I want to apologize to the Yankees fans here at Vendetta. Anthony Fontanello helped me get my foot in the door here, and Producer Alex also helped me a lot when I got here. This is nothing personal to them but the team they root for is a disgrace to the entire sport of baseball.
Trust me, I have been through some of the worst things imaginable as a sports fan and losing is nothing new to me or my teams. But what happened Friday night was shocking and not something I can recall watching a professional sports game
While down six runs in the bottom of the eighth inning Clint Frazier was in the middle of his at-bat when there was a stoppage in play. Fans from the stands started throwing baseballs onto the field while the Rays were in the field. What an embarrassment for New Yorkers.
The PA announcer had to make a statement mid-game asking for fans to refrain from throwing balls on the field. That didn’t stop fans from continuing their antics and delaying the game further.
Then Sunday, after the Rays finished their sweep of the Bronx Bombers, Brett Phillips, Rays outfielder tweeted out a video of fans cursing at him.
The Yankees are in a downwards spiral and their fans are growing restless. To be honest the yelling at the players isn’t that bad and is very common in any arena or stadium across the world. Just funny that the team is struggling and their supporters are lashing out.
