Xavier Restrepo is the most prolific receiver in the history of the Miami Hurricanes. Restrepo leads the program as the all-time leader in receptions (200), receiving yards (2,844), and touchdowns (21). So does that mean he will become a stud wide out at the NFL level? That’s obviously the topic at hand ,so let’s not waste any more time. Here is your 2025 NFL Draft profile on Restrepo!
NFL Draft Stock Report: Week 1, Week 4, Week 5, Week 6, Week 8, Week 9, Week 10, Week 11, Week 14, Senior Bowl (1), (2), (3)
Restrepo, 22, was a three start recruit coming out of high school. The Deerfield Beach High School product spent the last five years with the Canes in Miami. He’s very much a slot receiver checking in at 5-foot-10, 209. It took him about four years to really make an impact on the field, but there’s no question he’s tough as nails.
In 2020, as a freshman, he was a backup and had just one catch. The next two years he was in the 20’s for receptions and was still mostly a depth piece. The last two years are when he really burst onto the scene. In 2023, Restrepo notched 85 receptions for 1,092 yards and six touchdowns. This past year, he reeled in 69 grabs for 1,127 yards and 11 touchdowns.
Restrepo was obviously very productive, but he’s also limited in what he can do. He’s a slot only guy and when I say slot, we’re talking a slot undersized slot. I covered the Miami Pro Day, and he ran like a snail. A 4.80 time at the Pro Day (which usually has fluffed numbers favorable in the player’s favor) is borderline unplayable bad. Is that really going to translate to the next level?
There’s a reason why he didn’t run at the Combine. The number there probably would have been even worse if we’re being honest about it. He did the on-field portion of the workout, and 16 reps on the bench shows the guy works hard. The positive is he’s technically sound and can actually run real routes. Definitely quicker than fast and can win in short area. The bad news is he’s small while lacking length, and can’t run. The problem is that it feels like the pure ceiling here is incredibly low. Are we really looking at much more than Hunter Renfrow / Cole Beasley with worse speed? The other positive is that his 2.8% drop rate is really low, and you can trust him to reel in targets thrown his way.
I like Restrepo. I really do. I just think if people think this is going to be the next Ladd McConkey, they’re going to be very disappointed. McConkey was also significantly faster coming out of college. He can maybe do some things in obvious passing downs as a slot, and he’s not scared to go over the middle of the field. I just don’t think we can go higher than a 5th, 6th, or 7th rounder based on all of the circumstances here.
