The William Carrier contract felt stinky from the time pen was put to paper and he’s predictably falling apart already. Carrier suffered a lower body injury that will keep him out for months and maybe even end his season.
Canes team reporter Walt Ruff noted that Carrier is going to be out for months with his latest injury.
“He’s going to be [out] long-term now,” Brind’Amour said following the team’s skate at Invisalign Arena. “I’m not sure how long, but it’s going to be a couple of months, at minimum.”
Canes fans probably don’t care right now. They just landed Mikko Rantanen and probably feel like they’re on top of the world. They have every right to celebrate right now.
In terms of Carrier though, predicting injuries is stupid, but some guys you can’t deny just go down far more often than others. I’m not sure what it is but Carolina really has a thing for former Vegas wingers who can’t stay healthy. They went down with the Max Pacioretty ship for god knows why. Now it’s Carrier.
I don’t predict injuries but Carrier going down was inevitable. The guy was made of glass in Vegas and that’s carried over in Carolina. It’s a huge reason why Vegas let him walk in free agency. It’s a big reason why signing Carrier to a SIX year contract felt ridiculous.
Carrier, 30, played in 70 games just ONCE during his seven year tenure with Vegas. He played in less than 60 games in five of the seven seasons there. Good luck keeping this guy healthy over the course of the next SIX years. I wish them luck on that.
