I’ve always thought Matthew Berry was a fraud. From the time he first appeared on ESPN, if you know anything about fantasy football, it’s been painfully obvious that he doesn’t know anything about it. Was I just being a hater or did I have a point to prove? That’s exactly why we here at Vendetta Sports Media decided to start the Matthew Berry Challenge. Let’s put my money where my mouth is and actually track who the better fantasy expert is!
If you’re unfamiliar with the Matthew Berry challenge, it works like this:
When Berry releases his before the season Love/Hate column, that is the list I’m allowed to challenge him on. If he hates a guy, I can take the opposite approach and vice versa. I’m not allowed to just cherry pick anything I want on his rankings sheet. It’s only his most confident picks where I have to take the opposite take.
You would think that Berry has at least put up a fight on the things he’s the most confident in. The challenge is totally skewed in his favor but it has never mattered. I’ve humiliated this clown two consecutive years since starting the challenge.
In the two years of doing it, my lifetime record against Berry is 23-4. The man who is declared the “face” of fantasy football has lost 23-4 against me IN HIS MOST CONFIDENT PICKS.
This is the link to the one from this year.
By the way, crickets from the fantasy community. They won’t say a word on it because they must protect this clown at all cost.
My question is what more do I have to prove? 23-4 speaks for itself. Again… on HIS MOST CONFIDENT PICKS.
At some point, I’m not a hater.
At some point, when will I be declared as the king of fantasy football?
Matthew Berry hasn’t just been competitive. He’s been humiliated. These things aren’t even close.
Now you might sit there and say “Trey… why are you getting so carried away with this”.
Let me ask you this question. If you were significantly better at a job than someone who makes millions upon millions of dollars and never received that same recognition, how would you feel?
It’s time for the rest of the fantasy community to stop hiding. How many more years in a row do I need to embarrass this clown? Are we really going to keep pretending that a guy who said “Sinnott over Bowers” should be taken seriously?
It’s time for the rest of you to speak up and address the elephant in the room. If the roles were reversed, I’d quit and take up a different career path. Why hasn’t the rest of the fantasy community acknowledged this? We know why. They don’t want their golden goose to be exposed as a fraud.
Heading into next fantasy season, I dare you to make any other platform other than Vendetta Sports Media your home for fantasy content. That is unless you want to continue to suffer the consequences for doing so.
