Damian Lillard has been a wildcard to be traded. We have no idea if he wants to be traded or wants to continue to the grind in Portland. But now Lillard himself has revealed his potential future destination in the NBA, and it’s the Miami Heat.
In a recent interview on The Last Stand with Showtime’s Brian Custer, he proposed to Lillard on hypothetical trade destinations, and Lillard didn’t shy away.
Custer asked this:
“Everyone keeps saying Damian Lillard is going to be traded to the Knicks, Damian Lillard should be traded to the Heat, Damian Lillard should be traded to the Celtics, Damian Lillard is going to be traded to the Nets. If one of those trades went through, out of those teams, which one would you be like, ‘Eh, that’s not so bad.’“
In response to this wild question, Lillard replied with this:
“Miami, obviously,” Lillard said. “Bam is my dawg for real but Miami is an obvious one. Brooklyn is another obvious one because Mikal Bridges is my dog too.”
Although Lillard gave his ideal trade destination, the superstar point guard shied away from being traded once again.
“To have an opportunity to win in Portland. We got an opportunity, asset-wise, to build a team that can compete. If we can’t do that… then it’s a separate conversation we would have to have.”
Back in 2019, Lillard signed a massive four-year deal worth over $176 million and tacked on an extra two-years, $121.8 million last offseason with a $63.2 million player option in 2026-27, his age-36 season, per Spotrac.
With that being said, does he remain in Portland if they aren’t able to bring him back to the playoffs? Or he can take a trip to South Beach and bring his talents there.
