Will Alex Bregman Continue To Mash At Fenway Park?

Alex Bregman feels like a perfect fit for the Red Sox after signing a contract with Boston. It goes beyond the previous Alex Cora connection. It goes beyond giving the Sox a righty power bat they desperately need. It goes beyond simply improving the infield defense.

These numbers are INSANE. That 1.240 OPS number is the best number of any player in MLB history to notch at least 75 at-bats at Fenway. Oh, and his OBP at Fenway trails only Ted Williams. Yeah… pretty good.

If you’re looking for reasons to be excited about the Bregman addition, look no further than the ballpark he now gets to play in. The former LSU product is a notorious pull hitter and even when he was in Houston, he torched those Crawford boxes. Whatever the over/under number is for Bregman doubles, you may want to take the over. If Bregman is going right, you’re going to hear a lot of hard hit balls off the Green Monster.

Obviously, Bregman now just needs to do his part and prove he’s not on the decline. That’s probably the biggest fear of this whole thing. Bregman, 31 at the end of March, could very well be aging out of his prime. That part is to be determined. If you’re looking for reasons to be optimistic, the Fenway Park factor feels like a good place to start. This could be the perfect ballpark for his style of swing and I don’t think it can be discredited.
