Will 2K Sports Ever Bring Back MLB Front Office Manager?
Introducing NFL Head Coach except for MLB fans? Do I have your attention now? With the MLB trade deadline around the corner, it always gives me flashbacks of playing MLB Front Office Manager as a kid. It wasn’t a perfect game but boy that puppy was a joy to play.
Of course, it doesn’t appear that 2K Sports has any plans to bring the series back. The only installment of the game came back in 2009. Coincidently, the same year as the last edition of NFL Head Coach. Why did they stop making these games? I don’t have the answer for that but at this point there is such nostalgia for it that game developers should at least consider it.
The game actually had a ton of features including SABR stats back in 2009 and kept track of a players career. Considering it was 2009, for this game to have bidding for Japanese players is insane. Imagine what a new edition of this game could create? The possibilities are endless. Especially since MLB The Show can now use real minor league players.
I know this style of game isn’t for everyone but I just don’t buy that this can’t be a sustainable product regardless of sport. Have you seen how crazy Twitter gets with simple trade rumors? It doesn’t matter if they have any legs to them. The people go wild. Having that ability in a simulation style game can work if you put the right features in place.
Side Note: If you ever do pick up an old copy of the game, I always trade for Hanley Ramirez back. He should have never been a Marlin. Love Josh Beckett but it’s a crime the Sox dealt him away. Would have been an amazing homegrown star.
