Which WWE Superstar should end Roman Reigns’ monstrous reign?
Roman Reigns recently surpassed 800 days as WWE Universal Champion. It is an amazing feat that only eight other men have accomplished in the WWE. This makes Reigns’ current title run the ninth longest title reign in WWE history. This, of course, leads to the question, who will be the one to dethrone the Tribal Chief?
A reign this long and this dominant can only be ended in a way that the WWE universe deserves and there is only one name the fans will accept. Before we get to that, let’s run down a list of honorable mentions:
- CM Punk — Punk is obviously an intriguing choice. WWE feels like the right place for him to go if he ever was to make a return to wrestling. Despite the way WWE crowds have been chanting his name for years since his departure, Punk’s stock has only gone down after his AEW run.
- Cody Rhodes — Rhodes felt like the obvious choice to dethrone Reigns after his return to the company at WrestleMania. The main issue is, Rhodes has been sidelined for months with an injury. Even though the fans will be ecstatic when he returns, The Bloodline has only gotten stronger and more dominant since his injury.
- The Rock — This is a match that was set up since the day Reigns was born. The Tribal Chief standing face-to-face with the one person in his bloodline that could claim the title of Head of the Table over him. The main issue is, The Rock really doesn’t feel like he would get a win here. It just makes no sense to have Roman get squashed by his own cousin in what will most likely be The Rock’s last match.
So, who is going to defeat Roman Reigns?
The answer here is simple. It has been simple the entire time. It has been staring us in the face for months. Maybe it felt unrealistic at first, so we just put it on the back burner. Ladies and gentlemen, it is all but unrealistic now. In fact, this is the only way to properly bring The Bloodline storyline to a close.
The man that needs to and WILL end Roman Reigns’ historic reign as Undisputed WWE Universal Champion is, the Honorary Uce, Sami Zayn.
Zayn has slowly but surely become the most popular superstar in all of WWE. In what started as a comedic side story, he has turned into the heartbeat of what is the current era of WWE. In 10 years, when wrestling fans look back on this brilliant story, Zayn will be right in the front their minds.
Now, let’s book it. This is where the fun begins. Just imagine The Bloodline standing tall after WWE Survivor Series. We can even say Zayn saved the day and managed to get his team the victory. Despite the best efforts from Jey Uso, this is the moment even he accepts Zayn into The Bloodline. Let’s say Zayn made an incredible sacrifice with his body in order for them to pick up the win.
The next night on WWE Monday Night RAW, The Bloodline will declare all five members to participate in the Royal Rumble. The build up can be that Reigns plans to win with the help of The Bloodline, resulting in him not having to defend his title at WrestleMania. Fast forward to the Royal Rumble, the final five men standing would be Reigns, Uso, Zayn, Solo Sikoa, and Zayn’s former best friend, Kevin Owens. Owens manages to eliminate Sikoa because of Zayn accidentally distracting him.

At this point, Uso falls back into his old ways and starts yelling at Zayn. The Tribal Chief steps in to mediate the situation, but Jey hits Zayn with a super kick that leaves the crowd absolutely stunned.
Reigns, furious with Jey for what he just did, starts laying into his cousin with some harsh words. At this point, Owens manages to hit Jey with a stunner out of nowhere. Reigns is shocked and begins going after Owens. The two men get tied up on the ring apron after a few minutes of battling, and Jey wakes up to go help Reigns. While attempting to eliminate Owens, Uso accidentally eliminates Reigns as well. The Tribal Chief is furious and Uso is so upset with what he has just done. It appears Uso has won the Royal Rumble.
That is until Zayn gets back in the ring after rolling under the bottom rope following the super kick from Jey. A furious Zayn decides enough is enough and he will no longer take the torment of Uso. Zayn sprints and delivers a vicious Helluva Kick sending Uso over the top rope. He doesn’t even realize what he has done because he was running off pure emotion. After a few minutes, it hits him and the crowd. Zayn has won the WWE Royal Rumble. He is going to the main event of WWE WrestleMania 39.
The build up to WrestleMania can see Zayn struggle with the idea of what he just accomplished. On one hand, he has the chance to fulfill a childhood dream. On the other, he is turning his back on who he worked so hard forming bonds with. Over time, with the help of Owens and other superstars, Zayn will realize what he has to do. Zayn goes into WrestleMania and dethrones Roman Reigns.
Sami Zayn is no longer the Honorary Uce. He is now the Head of the Table.
