The Usos Make History As WWE Tag-Team Champions
The Usos are undoubtedly one of the best tag teams of the past decade, and will even go down as one of the best ever. They are truly this generation of fans, Hardy Boys, Dudley Boys, and Edge and Christian. They have been at the top of the tag team division since arriving in WWE back in 2010. The Usos are now eight-time tag team champions in WWE and have even held the FCW tag titles prior to getting called up. Regardless of their past successes, the Usos always find a way to reinvent themselves and stay relevant in professional wrestling. Over the past two years, they have been involved in the best storyline in all of professional wrestling with the Bloodline. Their couin, Roman Reigns, became one of the longest reigning WWE champions ever. But now the Usos just made history in WWE of their own.
Longest Reigning WWE Tag Team Champions
The Usos are officially the longest-reigning WWE tag team champions of all time. Currently, they hold both the Smackdown and Raw tag titles but have held the Smackdown tag team championships for 484 days. They won the tag titles on July 18th, 2021. Since then, they have defeated any and all that dare to step up. Most recently, they beat the New Day on Smackdown to solidify themselves as the longest-reigning tag team champions ever.
However, it is important to note that Gallus has held the NXT UK Tag Team Championships for 497 days. But, during their title reign, NXT UK shut down for about a year during covid. Regardless, the Usos are going to go well past that record so there are no doubts. The craziest part about all of this is that there have only been six teams in WWE history to hold the tag titles for a year. It’s hard to believe with all of the legendary teams in WWE history, that only six have held the titles for a year. It just goes to show how little WWE has valued tag team championships.
When Will The Reign End?
A Reign like this must end on the biggest stage of them all. Where the lights are the brightest and the fans are the loudest. WrestleMania is where I think the Usos reign will come to an end. It’s unlikely that they will defend the titles at Survivor Series: WarGames, and I can’t see them dropping the titles at Royal Rumble. So WrestleMania makes the most sense and their opponents might not be who you think. I believe the Bloodline’s entire run will start to unravel once the Usos drop the titles. And to kick off the demise of the bloodline, I think Sami Zayn is going to turn on the Usos.
I believe we are going to get a taste of it at Survivor Series and the full turn will happen at the Royal Rumble. Thus setting up the match for WrestleMania 39. Furthermore, I think Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens will be the ones to dethrone the Usos. It just makes the most sense story-line-wise. This marks the end of the Usos legendary run and if they hold the titles until WrestleMania, they will be champions for 621 days. Truly a record that will never be broken again.
