What allegations arose against Vince McMahon in 2022?

Vince McMahon has been embroiled in many controversies over the years, but the allegations he faced last year changed WWE.

McMahon initially took over the reins of the promotion that would someday become WWE back in 1982. With his mind for business and cutthroat tactics, Vince changed the small promotion to the biggest pro wrestling experience in the world by 2023. However, in 2022, Vince McMahon nearly lost everything because of his alleged past actions.

In 2022, McMahon shockingly stepped down from booking and his role as CEO. This allowed his daughter Stephanie McMahon, and her husband, former wrestler Paul “Triple H” Levesque to run things in his absence. Reports from the Wall Street Journal alleged that Vince McMahon was facing sexual abuse allegations. On top of this, there were claims that he used WWE funds to bury the stories, which resulted in an internal investigation.

McMahon’s booking of WWE was largely criticized online by many fans, especially his habit of focusing on larger athletes. Despite this, he still brought in millions for the promotion and made Superstars out of those he saw potential in.

Vince McMahon returned to the WWE in 2023

Despite stepping down as CEO and the allegations against him, Vince McMahon shocked many people when he returned to WWE. Since returning, he’s taken up the role of Executive Chairman, sold off WWE, and secured himself a position on the board. This led to an online boycott, but unfortunately for all the fans, those involved in the deal don’t take business advice from social media.

It remains to be seen if Vince McMahon will return to his role as an on-screen authority figure or not. With WWE merging with Endeavor, things could likely change behind the scenes. Either way, Vinny Mac. has secured himself until retirement. The future of WWE will be in the hands of those on the new Board of Directors.
