Chelsea made headlines on Thursday when they announced that they will probably be signing Timo Werner. Right now, he is playing at RB Leipzig and many teams have been eyeing the German player.
Jurgen Klopp, head coach for Liverpool, had reportedly talked to Werner in early April. But with the pandemic, Liverpool will probably have a silent summer. They are more geared towards having Virgil van Dijk and Allison long term. They also want to close the 30-year gap on winning a league title.
Once Liverpool backed off, Chelsea became adamant about getting Werner. Manchester United also seems to be interested. But Chelsea is offering to raise Werner’s wage by triple.
Werner’s clause is up on June 15, making Chelsea more pressured to close the deal. Sources told The Independent that Werner’s wage will rocket in excess by £10 million, with a fee of £12m going to his agent.
As of right now, there have multiple reports of how much Werner’s release clause is. It ranges anywhere from £49m to £54m.
Werner has made 32 appearances. He also got 25 goals in 29 games. His style of play readily matches to that of Frank Lampard.
With how well Werner matches Chelsea, and how much they are willing to pay for him. It looks like Werner will be signing with Chelsea.
