Timo Werner’s move to Chelsea was confirmed. Werner agreed to the deal worth £53 million. He will be making £180,000 a week in wages. However, Werner can’t complete the medical portion to finalize the deal.
According to The Athletic, the RB Leipzig player can’t fly to England right now.
Chelsea could send their medics, but according to UK travel laws, they would have to self-isolate for two weeks on their return. If they refused to fill out the form or self-isolate, they would be fined. This would mean that they would be unavailable for the team for two weeks. Which would conflict with their first game against Aston Villa on June 21.
Frank Lampard could use German FA medics. But he will most likely wait until Bundesliga finishes on June 27. Or wait until the UK travel restrictions change.
Werner has scored four goals since the return on Bundesliga. This will help Chelsea greatly for next season. Chelsea is fourth in Premier League and will qualify for Champions League next year if they keep it up.
