Washington Redskins 2018 NFL Draft War Room

The Washington Redskins have shaken up their roster at the most important position. Kirk Cousins has been swapped for Alex Smith. Washington and Jay Gruden clearly hated Kirk Cousins and preferred Alex Smith. They landed Smith at a fairly reasonable price tag giving up a corner and a third-round pick. The price tag to sign him long-term, however, wasn’t a fair price tag. Washington does have a pretty solid supporting cast. What can we expect from the Washington Redskins during the 2018 NFL Draft?

Holding the 13th pick in the draft, I think the Skins may go corner. Josh Jackson of Iowa may be the pick. Orlando Scandrick has been signed to essential cancel out Kendall Fuller who was traded in the Alex Smith deal. However, Bashad Breeland hasn’t been re-signed back yet. He had landed a deal with the Panthers but failed the physical. Washington could sign him but they haven’t so far. Josh Jackson would give the Skins a solid one-two punch to go with the elite Josh Norman. Josh Jackson comes as a long 6-foot-1 corner that comes with ball skills. Jackson reeled in 8 picks in 2017 including three against Ohio State in what is a must watch tape.

In the second round, Washington could look for another defensive lineman. Jonathan Allen was a huge success in the second round last year. Stacy McGee and Ziggy Hood are the current starters on the interior defensive line. Let’s throw them Derrick Nnadi of Florida State. He recorded 53 tackles, 3.5 sacks, and one forced fumble in 2017. Nnadi could be a real force and the game against Miami this year showed his skillset.

Vikings Sign Kirk Cousins To Three-Year Fully Guaranteed Deal

Washington does not have a third-round pick because of the quarterback trade. With the rest of the draft, more defense has to be on the agenda. Paul Richardson was signed to a huge contract so receiver is probably off the radar. Jordan Reed is set at tight end. The offensive line is also incredible. Defense and more defense will be the key to contending for the Redskins.
