Our partners at SimBull introduced a new contest called the “SimBull Six” and Karl Heiser and Adam Krieger will give you our picks each week. Last week we went an even 3-3, making us 15-15 on the season so far. To date, Karl is 10-5 and Adam is 5-10. Here are our Week 6 picks.
No. 10 Michigan State (-4.5) vs. Indiana (+4.5) – Adam’s Pick
Pick: Michigan State (-4.5)
Indiana had a dream 2020 but they were in for a rude awaking this year. Michigan State is in the Top 10 for the first time in five years and the Spartans might have something cooking. If it wasn’t in Bloomington, the line would be well over a touchdown, and there is no magic left for the Hoosiers. Maybe in basketball (check out the Jimmer Range Big Ten Preview to find out).
No. 12 Oklahoma State (+5.5) vs. No. 25 Texas (-5.5) – Adam’s Pick
Pick: Oklahoma State +5.5 Texas (-5.5)
What a brutal way to end the game for the Longhorns last week. That is a loss that can absolutely kill a season dead in its tracks. Texas is clearly NOT back no matter how much “we” want them to be. This might be a square pick but I suck anyway so fade me if you want…Sorry Karl and the readers but I am fading myself, I am not gonna be a square here, give me Texas at home. It is the wild west out here. If you are still taking my picks I don’t know what to tell ya.
No. 11 Kentucky (+23) vs. No. 1 Georgia (-23) – Adam’s Pick
Pick: Georgia (-23)
Holy points. This is one of the few times I am comfortable laying this many points, but this Georgia team is INSANE. They are far and away the best team in the country right now and they will ROLL at home. The Bulldogs defense is one of the best college units we have seen in a long time. This has nothing to do with Kentucky either, they are a great football team and a program on the rise, but the Bulldogs are in Athens. Go Dawgs.
Arizona Cardinals (+2.5) vs. Cleveland Browns (-2.5) – Karl’s Pick
Pick: Cardinals (+2.5)
The Cardinals are red-hot and are the only remaining undefeated team in the NFL. They will certainly lose a few games this season, but I’m not sure this is one of them. I also have some lingering questions about the Cleveland Browns secondary and their high reliance on the run game. That’s leading me to pick the Cardinals in this one, although most NFL ‘experts’ are picking the Browns so feel free to fade my pick as you see fit.
Seattle Seahawks (+4.5) vs. Pittsburgh Steelers (-4.5) – Karl’s Pick
Pick: Steelers (-4.5)
I’ve gone back and forth on this pick, but I’m ultimately going with Pittsburgh at home. Both of these teams are a complete disaster in their own way. The Seahawks won’t have Russell Wilson or Chris Carson for this game, and they also have one of the three worst defenses in the entire league. The Steelers have an offensive game plan that consists of approximately two plays. Their defense should give Geno Smith fits, and I think their offense will be good enough against this atrocious defense to cover.
Buffalo Bills (-5.5) vs. Tennessee Titans (+5.5) – Karl’s Pick
Pick: Bills (-5.5)
The Titans have been a disappointment this season, and a lot of people seem to think they keep this game closer than one would expect. I’ve seen enough of Josh Allen this season to not pick against him. The Bills are very good on both sides of the ball and have surrendered the third-fewest rushing yards per game heading into the matchup against Derrick Henry. Rolling with Buffalo.
