The Tennessee Titans have themselves a new quarterback. Ryan Tannehill is heading to Nashville. The Titans will have restructured his contract too. Do the Titans have some quarterback controversy on their hands?
Tannehill’s agency broke the news:
This is a weird one. Do the Titans have a quarterback battle on their hands? Both Tannehill and Marcus Mariota suck. Both guys also are injury prone so it’s probably a safe bet that both guys will start at some point. Tannehill started 11 games for Miami in 2018 and threw 17 touchdowns and 9 interceptions. He also threw for 179 yards per game and completed 64.2 percent of his throws.
Compare that to Mariota who played in 14 games. Mariota threw 11 touchdowns and 8 interceptions. He averaged 180.6 yards throwing per game while completing 69 percent of his throws. I don’t know how this isn’t competition for Mariota.
Tannehill was scheduled to carry a $26.6 million cap hit for Miami in 2019. I’m guessing he redid his deal because Miami was probably going to release him. The Dolphins will save some money in this trade. After failing to land Teddy Bridgewater, the Dolphins currently do not have a quarterback. Miami is clearly going full tank mode. They have to be one of the favorites for the first pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. They have may their druthers between Justin Herbert, Tua Tagovailoa, and Jake Fromm.
In this trade, the Dolphins will receive a 4th and 7th round draft pick this year. The Titans will get Tannehill and a 6th rounder. That’s not a bad haul for Tannehill. Will we get more Brock Osweiler in 2019? Right now the current quarterbacks on the Dolphins roster is Jake Rudock and Luke Falk.
