Tim Patrick Tears Achilles, Out For 2023 NFL Season
This dude cannot catch a break. The former UDFA tore his ACL almost exactly one year ago to the day. Now Tim Patrick is out again. This time it’s via a torn Achilles. Patrick is out again and will miss the entire 2023 NFL Season.

Patrick, 29, was expected to play a significant role in the Denver offense. Jerry Jeudy was expected to start in the slot while Patrick and Courtland Sutton played the outside receiver roles. Lil’Jordan Humphrey, Kendall Hinton, Marquez Callaway, and rookie Marvin Mims will be tasked with filling in.
Mims is a player that has a lot of potential and was just drafted by the Broncos in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft. Denver traded up to go get Mims so they clearly believe in him.
The former Utah product is due $5.5MM in guaranteed money this season. Patrick has no guarantees in 2024. Patrick has a pretty sizeable cap number and will count just over $11 million. Placing Patrick on IR will take care of some of that number.
Expect Tim Patrick to get waived next season. Given the injury history, it just doesn’t make sense to keep him at that cap hit.
Patrick notched over 50 receptions and over 700 yards in 2020 and 2021. It’s an absolutely brutal blow for an ascending player that likely won’t be the same as he heads into his 30s.
