The Outsider 2018 Netflix Review

The Outsider is a movie you will not want to miss. I’m just going to come out and say it now. Maybe others won’t be into it but this was my type of movie. As always, I’ll do my best to not spoil things. However, this is one you’re going to want to watch before I even get into it.

The plot is just perfect. An American soldier is taken as a prisoner of war in Japan during WWII. He eventually becomes a member of the Yakuza after meeting one of their locked up members in prison. If that’s not an interesting story, I don’t know what is.

I just love this movie because it’s such a slow build up. It’s not one of those movies that transitions too fast. It has a Godfather sort of build up. It doesn’t feel like everything happened over night which is a good thing.

Jared Leto kills it during this movie. I’m not even a big Leto fan but he’s perfect for this role. To watch how he evolves over the movie is really something. Shiori Kutsuna is something. That’s all I say on that.

I highly recommend The Outsider. Especially if you’re like me and you’re into mob films. You won’t go wrong here. This one has the Trey stamp of approval.
