The BFFs Podcast with Dave Portnoy and Josh Richards Broke YouTube

It is rare to see YouTube crash, and the BFFs podcast with Josh Richards and Dave Portnoy did just that. This week’s episode was highly anticipated because of big news in the TikTok world.

I won’t pretend to know what is going on in that section of the internet. That app scares me big time, I know that it has since blown up and become super mainstream, but in the early days of the app it was filled with underage kids doing some crazy dances and I felt dirty watching it.

Portnoy saw the insanity of that part of the world and decided he needed to be a part of it. He started a podcast with Josh Richards as his introduction to the TikTok world. Richards is 18 years old and when you have to deal with teenagers, you deal with teenage problems and Portnoy hopped in the mix and started throwing his opinions and experiences into it. He brought in Brianna Chickenfry, another Barstool personality to help bridge the gap from Portnoy to the younger generation.

Nothing moves the needle more than beef, like it or not it drives clicks and Portnoy has found himself in the middle of a fight or two in his day. That didn’t change when he started BFFs, he got in the mix with Bryce Hall and this time it is his co-host Josh Richards who is the center of attention.

Portnoy tweeted the show went live at 10:13 (ET) and less than a half hour later the platform was unable to play the video, leaving viewers with error messages.

Despite the fact that most people were unable to even watch the premier of the show on YouTube, the video got 1.1 million views in the first 50 minuets it was posted

Like it or not this show is huge, the numbers do not lie. This ended up being a double winner for Portnoy and the entire Barstool podcast network. Call Her Daddy, the monster show that changed the podcast industry sits at number one overall on iTunes. That show just happens to be where a lot of this most recent drama started. Mads Lewis, another TikTok, star went on that show and cried on air about her situation that involved Richards.

So all of the people that couldn’t watch the show on YouTube, went to iTunes and drove that show up the podcast charts. Call Her Daddy sat at number one in all categories, and BFFs was up to number nine.
