Where does Oregon State product Taliese Fuaga stack up to the rest of the offensive tackle class? That’s what we’re here to talk about so before I get more in the weeds on an intro paragraph, let’s check out his 2024 NFL Draft Profile!
I’m just going to cut to the chase here. The pre-draft process has been kind to Fuaga. He murdered the Combine and blew up the Senior Bowl. Couldn’t believe how nimble he was on his feet. Aced all the movement stuff in space. Doesn’t get stuck in the mud and just does an incredible job just keeping his feet churning.
While not mentioned in the Stock Report notes, it was pretty obvious that Damien Martinez and the other ball carriers with the Beavers greatly benefited from having Fuaga on their side. He’s an ace as a run blocker. The things we’ve seen pre-draft makes me believe he will grow into a dominant pass blocker too. Think he’s best suited for the right side but he may just be talented enough to get away with playing on the left.
Fuaga is a former three star guy out of the state of Washington. Checks in at 6-foot-6, 324, and over 33 inch arms. Ran a 5.13 during the 40 but that’s a great time for him given the fact that he’s a thick house. Has been the starting right tackle for Oregon State the last two years and made the First-team All-Pac-12 Conference in 2023.
I really like his pad level. He gets the leverage stuff. Super powerful too. He gets his hands on you the rep is over. Not sure he’s overly quick twitched and reacts to problems rather than diagnosing them against speed. Still, he did a lot of good things on the field and his pre-draft stuff confirms a lot of it.
I have a firm first round grade on Taliese Fuaga preferring to get him somewhere in the 15-30 range. Should become a quality starting caliber right tackle and if a team so chooses probably has the upside to become a blue chip guard inside.
