After doing a power ranking for the Mario Party Superstars maps, I figured it would be best to do the same for Super Mario Party. While Mario Party Superstars is the game’s new iteration, Super Mario Party is better, in my opinion, and very available on the Switch. The way that the characters can change the outcome of the game with different dice sets this game apart.
Let’s do a quick power ranking for the Super Mario Party maps. What do you need to know about each map and which one should you prioritize for game night?
4: Kamek’s Tantalizing Tower
Unlocking Kamek’s Tantalizing Tower is supposed to serve as a reward once you beat the other three maps in the game. The only problem is that it’s probably the worst map. The only quirk to this map is the fact that the price for a star changes each time someone buys one. There’s a ping-pong lottery system tucked away at the top that changes every time someone clinches a star. It’s just not really that fun.
My problem with this map is that it’s kinda boring. The gold makes it look cool but all it really is, is a path to the top where you swerve a bit. Outside of the dog that looks like a bomb hitting you if you hit a certain space, this map really doesn’t provide much.
3: Womp’s Domino Ruins
Not a terrible map. This is supposed to be the cookie cutter first map you start out with. There are three chests that have prizes. Usually they never actually impact who wins the game, however. There is also a spot in the map when you’re at the top that makes you go back to the start if someone hits the exclamation spot. Not a bad map. Just more so basic.
2: King Bob-omb’s Powderkeg Mine
Now we’re really starting to heat up. The powderkeg makes things interesting quick. The map is condensed so you get to where you need to go in a hurry. The main attraction here is the chaos of the center stage. You see the number five on the image above. When enough people hit that green exclamation point the bomb explodes and everyone in the circle loses all of their coins. It makes it strategic when navigating the board which is all anyone really wants when playing this game.
1: Megafruit Paradise
Megafruit Paradise is the GOAT in terms of Super Mario Party maps. The star is always on one of the four islands. The bridge can take you across but too many trips across the first bridge will get it to crater.
Each island is also so different in what it has to offer in each location. Pineapple has the ice cream cone of goodies. The hut has an opportunity to steal coins or stars. The watermelon is out here handing out free stars if you play your cards right.
The way to travel is you need to hit the green exclamation mark and it will take you to the diagonal island. Based on where the star is at and who’s around the area, there is just so much strategy involved in decision making. It’s a great map.
