Monday Night Football is getting a serious shake up. Suzy Kolber has already been fired. Moments later news has come out that Steve Young will join her on the unemployment line. ESPN has serious work to do to reconfigure its MNF broadcast.
Front Office Sports was the first to report the news:
“Steve Young: The former Super Bowl MVP and Pro Football Hall of Famer has served as analyst on “Monday Night Countdown” and other NFL studio shows since 2000.”
Young, 61, started working for ESPN almost immediately right after his retirement from the NFL in 1999. Young earned numerous awards and accolades. He was named the NFL Most Valuable Player (MVP) twice (1992, 1994). The former BYU product made the Pro Bowl seven times and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2005.
We’ll see what’s next for Steve Young. The NY Post column doesn’t indicate that he has a strong lead on his future, unlike what was reported on about Keyshawn Johnson. Of course, Keyshawn was another NFL personality let go by ESPN.
It’s starting to become crazy how many ESPN analysts have been let go today. All because they have to pay for this new Pat McAfee show. The bodies just keep collecting. Todd McFraud is even gone. Just as many names are being canned on the NBA side of things. It’s really a massacre going on over there at ESPN. This is your worldwide leader in sports? Get ready more are on the way.
