Best Left-Handed Quarterbacks Of All Time

Does anyone know about the good left-handed quarterbacks in NFL history? I mean, we all know about Steve Young, and Michael Vick, but does anyone actually know anybody else? Well it’s time you found out about the best lefty signal callers of all time

5. Jim Zorn

In all honesty, looking for a fifth quarterback on this list was a struggle. So I went with the undrafted product out of Cal Poly Pomona. Zorn played from 1975-1986, including a brief stint in the CFL in 1985 with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Zorn was named a second-team All-Pro member in 1978 and he is a member of the Seattle Seahawks Ring Of Honor.

4. Michael Vick

Michael Vick was electric to watch. He had an absolute cannon of an arm, and would make you look stupid in open space. He was a four-time Pro-Bowler (2002, 2004, 2005, 2010) and was the NFL Comeback Player Of The Year in 2010 as well as the recipient of the Bert Bell Award. Vick holds the record for career rushing yards by a quarterback with 6,109 yards and the record for career yards per carry at 7.0. I wanted to have Vick higher on the list, but given what he accomplished overall in his career, I just can’t. Some ridiculous highlights just aren’t enough.

3. Boomer Esiason

Next on the list is Boomer Esiason. The second-round pick out of Maryland in the 1984 NFL draft had a great career, mostly remembered for his time with the Cincinnati Bengals. Esiason was the NFL MVP in 1988, and was also named First-Team All-Pro that year as well. He also was a four-time Pro-Bowlers (1986, 1988, 1989,

2. Ken Stabler

The second-round pick out of Alabama in the 1968 draft is known most notably for his tenure with the Oakland Raiders, which peaked in 1976 with a Super Bowl win while Stabler led the league in touchdown passes and passer rating. In 1974 Stabler was named the NFL MVP and OPOY, a pretty good year. He also played with the Texans and Saints but did nothing very noteworthy.

1. Steve Young

I mean come on, was there any doubt it’d be Steve Young? He won two NFL MVPs, an OPOY, led the league in passer rating six times, completion percentage five times, yards per attempt five times, and passing touchdowns four times in his eight seasons of starting double-digit games. Also, won that Super Bowl in 1994 and balled out while doing so.

The league has seen many quarterbacks, but few left-handed ones and these five are the only real ones of note on a league-wide level. Honestly, the list is five, four, three, GAP, two, one.
