Stephen ‘tWitch’ Boss Found Dead
Stephen Boss, also known as “tWitch” on the ‘Ellen DeGeneres Show,’ died in a Los Angeles hotel room Tuesday morning at the age of 40. His wife, Allison Holker Boss, confirmed Wednesday that suicide was the cause of death, according to People Magazine.
“It is with the heaviest of hearts that I have to share my husband Stephen has left us, Stephen lit up every room he stepped into,” Allison told People in a statement. “He valued family, friends and community above all else and leading with love and light was everything to him. He was the backbone of our family, the best husband and father, and an inspiration to his fans.
“To say he left a legacy would be an understatement, and his positive impact will continue to be felt,” she continued. “I am certain there won’t be a day that goes by that we won’t honor his memory. We ask for privacy during this difficult time for myself and especially for our three children.
“Stephen, we love you, we miss you, and I will always save the last dance for you,” she concluded her statement to People.

The first worry arose when Stephen left their home with no keys or vehicle, which isn’t likely of him, according to Allison. Later that day he was found in a Los Angeles hotel room with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The breakout moment for the dancer, DJ, choreographer, actor, television producer, and more was on the Fox television show So You Think You Can Dance in 2008. That year was season four for the show which concluded with Boss finishing second. However, he would later return as an All-Star and in 2022, returned as a judge.
Not only that, but he would also later appear on several high-profile films and shows, including Magic Mike XXL, Modern Family, Step Up All In and more.
Stephen was most known for his role as the DJ and co-executive producer of the Ellen DeGeneres Show. He was initially brought on as a guest in 2013 but became the show’s DJ in 2014 and held that position until earlier this year when the show went off the air.
The relationship between Stephen and DeGeneres was nothing but love. Such a reality was made apparent in 2020 when the show was receiving critiques for a toxic work environment and Stephen made it aware the love was there. He made it very clear how much the show meant to him in its penultimate episode when he received a video tribute from DeGeneres.
“I love the family that we’ve gained and something that I’ll always remember is that you gave me a place where I could just be myself,” Boss said.

Ellen took to social media to comment on the situation saying on Twitter, “I’m heartbroken. tWitch was pure love and light. He was my family, and I loved him with all my heart. I will miss him. Please send your love and support to Allison and his beautiful children – Weslie, Maddox, and Zaia.”
